Sweet C's Focaccia Bread

Sweet C's Focaccia Bread

This bread is delicious. It could be a meal on it's own. I love making it to go with pasta.

Ingredients:

1 tsp: Oregano
1 tsp: Basil
1 tsp: Garlic Powder
1 tsp: Salt
1/2 tsp: Ground Black Pepper
1 tsp: Sugar
3 Cups: Flour
1 1/4 Cup: Warm Water (110 degrees)
1/4 Oz: Dry Yeast (1 packet)
1 tbsp: Oil (I used Coconut Oil, but you can use vegetable oil)
2 tbsp: Extra Virgin Olive Oil

In a small bowl, mix water and yeast. Stir lightly with a fork and set aside for 10 minutes.

In a large bowl, place flour, oregano, basil, garlic powder, salt, black pepper and sugar. Stir with a whisk to evenly combine all ingredients.

Add the Coconut Oil (or Vegetable Oil.)

Slowly stir in water/yeast mix. Work all ingredients together.

Once a ball has formed, place it on a lightly floured smooth surface. Knead until smooth and slightly elastic. (Should take less than 5 minutes.)

Lightly oil a bowl (again, I used coconut oil) and place dough in bowl. Roll in oil to lightly coat the dough.

Cover the bowl with a towel and set aside to rise for 45 - 60 minutes.

Preheat oven to 425.

Lightly grease an 8 x 8 square pan.

When dough is done rising, gently punch down and transfer to the pan. Stretch and spread to fill pan.

Mix 2 tbsp of Extra Virgin Olive Oil with a dash of garlic, oregano and basil. With a pastry brush, spread over dough.

Bake at 425 for 20 minutes.

Remove from oven and cool for five minutes.

Remove from pan and place on cooling rack.

Can be served warm or cold.

I like to serve with a marinara sauce for dipping.
